Get the Most Out of Your FastPass

Long lines and restless guests in popular queues are a thing of the past at walt Disney World. At least it is for those who choose to take advantage of Disneys free service: FastPass.

So what is it?

FastPass debuted in 1999 and was embraced as a brilliant innovation in theme park engineering. This computerized system allows visitors to avoid standing in line for the most popular attractions throughout the walt Disney World Resort. Many guests did not understand the system at the time and some still do not. As a matter of fact, during the three and a half years I was a cast member at the Disney-mgm Studios, I would often overhear guests remark: Hey, thats not fair! Those people pay extra and get to cut ahead of us in line!

How does it work?

The FastPass attraction reservation system is very simple to use and best of allits free. Go to a participating show or ride, locate the FastPass machine and insert an admission ticket for each person in your party who wishes to enter the attraction. The FastPass machine reserves a return appointment for your party and prints a pass for each ticket with a one-hour window (for example, 10:20-11:20 a.m.). From here, you can feel free to explore the less crowded attractions in your selected park. During that one hour time frame, you can usually squeeze in two (maybe three) smaller attractions instead of waiting in that bloated line. Give yourself at least 15 minutes to be able to make it back in time for your designated FastPass time. When you arrive at the attraction, simply hand the cast member standing in front of the FastPass entrance your passes and youre in!

Wow, thats so cool! I think Ill get one for every ride!

Not so fast. In order for Disneys FastPass system to work properly, they had to implement restrictions on the amount of FastPasses a guest can hold during a given period of time. Each guest may hold one FastPass for one attraction every two hours or after the one hour window expires; whichever comes first. Why? If everyone were able to come in to the parks and get a FastPass for every attraction at once it wouldnt be very fast, would it?

The most important factor in getting what you want out of your disney World visit is time management. Now that you know the FastPass system inside and out, youll be able to get out there and experience more of what the walt Disney World Resort has to offerfaster, of course!

A subliminal element is something which according to Collins dictionary is "below the threshold of consciousness". In other words, the listener is not aware of it consciously but the subconscious can be aware of it.

As the subconscious is the powerful part of our mind, the subliminal suggestions reach the part that has the most influence on our behaviour.

Why Is Calpe Such A Popular Destination?

The la fossa and the bay of Gasparet are the other prominent beaches in the area.

In addition, splendid options are available for those who want to explore the history of the place, with its countryside filled with a multitude of ancient houses containing arched porticos; historic castles like the Moorish Castle overlooking the Mascarat ravine; and museums such as the Fiestas Museum and the Museum of Archeology all of them housing historic monuments and murals. Also, worth mentioning are the Calpe's old Town Walls and the ancient churches including Iglesia Vieja a classic example of the Mudejar-Gothic architecture. Calpe's attractions also cover an awesome modern marina situated along the old fishing port and Calpe fish market.

Above all, Calpe offers wonderful opportunities to enjoy an excellent range of water sport activities such as kayaking, windsurfing, yachting, and waterskiing, apart from other activities like rock climbing, trekking, sightseeing, and dining, with a chain of restaurants and bars offering delectable cuisines and savoring drinks.

By road, Calpe is easy reachable via the main highways. Further, Calpe is only a 50 minutes drive from the airport of Alicante.

Calpe's pleasant climate, scenic tourist attractions and its proximity to many of the major towns, attracts holidaymakers from across the globe.

Student Response Systems

Recently in the Toronto star there was an article about the use of student response systems in the classroom. Student response systems (SRS) are similar to what the audience uses to vote, on television shows like, Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

The concern is that these gadgets are just a waste of tax payers money and will be collecting dust once their novelty wears off. This won't be the case if educators are adequately taught how to properly use these devices to improve student performance.

From my two years of experience using ActiVote srs by Promethean, I have learn a few tips and tricks.

1) Keep the results anonymous - this allows all students to answer without embarrassment.

2) Have strict rules about keeping quiet during voting questions - this prevents students from sharing answers and defeating the entire purpose of the srs.

3) Do not use it for formal quizzes or tests - doing this will add too much stress on students that are struggling to get right answers.

4) Use to gage student understanding - after a lesson use the srs to figure out if most students followed the lesson and to find out which students need extra help.

5) Don't overuse the srs - If you overuse the srs, students will not take it seriously and results will not be useful.

Student Response Systems can be a useful teaching tool if educators understand how they should properly utilize them in their classrooms.
